Add/Edit Payer Group

This screen allows you to add or edit a payer group.  Click save on the Payer Groups screen to apply the changes or cancel to close without saving.

Add Payer Group

  • Group Name - Add payer group name.  

  • Description - Add payer group description.  

  • Active - Set the payer group as active or inactive.  If the payer group contains payers, then it cannot be deactivated.  

Deleting a Payer Group

By right-clicking on a payer group in the Payer groups screen, you can also delete a payer group.  The following rules apply when deleting a payer group:

  • If the payer group contains no payers, then it can be deleted.  
  • If the payer group contains payers, it cannot be deleted.  
  • If the payer group is used in the denial category mapping, you will be warned of the effect on the denial category mapping.  
  • If the payer group is populated on any EOB(s) then it cannot be deleted.  
  • The option will display “Deactivate” if an active payer group is selected, and “Activate” if an inactive payer group is selected.
  • Choosing Activate sets the payer group as active.
  • Choosing Deactivate sets the payer group to inactive instead of deleting it.  

You cannot delete a payer group that contains one or more payers.  Also, you cannot deactivate a payer group that contains one or more payers.
